Be. Do. Achieve.

January 11, 2025

Over the last few weeks, we’ve gone deep into identifying our priorities, reconsidering what success truly means, and knowing where (and when!) to draw the line to dial in so that you can make the most out of 2024.

But there’s one last, crucial, piece of the puzzle that I want to share with you.

No matter how clear your goals are, how well you’ve set your boundaries and how clear you are on what success looks like to you (and how badly you want it!) — these tools and insights are just the roadmap towards your goals and not the vehicle that will get you there.

The one factor that will make or break your journey towards your goals is you.

Because the version of you that got you to where you are now is not the version of you that will get you to where you want (and are called!) to go.

To achieve anything you have to become the person capable of achieving it.

You have to remove limiting beliefs, shift your identity, build better habits, make sacrifices, dial in your focus, solve the problems that you’re avoiding and do the work that you know you need to do.

You have to know what you want and you have to be willing to do whatever it takes to become the person capable of getting it.

And if you aren’t willing to become this person, then (sorry to be the messenger!) you aren’t pursuing a goal…

You’re chasing an illusion.

Let that sink in for a moment.

We often get caught up in the excitement of setting goals, visualising our success, and dreaming of the end result — that we rarely stop to consider the person we need to become to make those dreams a reality.

It’s all too easy to see the end result and want that for ourselves — the thriving business, the freedom-filled life, the harmonious relationship, you name it.

But what we don’t see is what it took for them to become the version of themselves that we look up to today.

We don’t see the person who started when everyone else said it was impossible. The person who rooted for themselves before others did. Who chose to do what needed to be done while others were out having fun. Who failed time and time again but chose to find a new and better way. Who had to completely reinvent themselves, shedding old habits and beliefs that no longer served them.

And yet, the level of success we can reach is directly proportional to the amount of responsibility we want to take for becoming the version of ourselves that is capable of achieving what we want. Nothing more. Nothing less.

We must be before we can achieve.

But most people won’t.

The harsh reality is that most people want to be fit, but most people aren’t. Most people want to build a successful business, but most people won’t. Most people want to live their lives on their own terms, but most people won’t.

Everyone wants to quit something, build something, be something, do something — but most people won’t.

Most people dream, wish, plan and talk — but when it comes to embodying the character and skills necessary for achieving their goals, they’ll hesitate. They’ll make excuses.

They’ll convince themselves it’s not the right time, or that a better opportunity will come along, but in reality, they resist change. They resist becoming the version of themselves who can.

Or more specifically, they resist letting go of the identity that stands in the way of what they say they want for themselves.

Now, this may feel like a proverbial punch in the face, but that’s not the aim of my game. Everything that I just touched on is the reality — the hard truth — that we must accept if we want to take charge of direction, growth and success in life.

If you’ve been following me for a longer period of time, you know that I’m not here to coddle, or hold hands. My mission is to help you own your potential, work and life, and right now that means giving you the insights to make an informed decision for yourself.

My personal interest is that you, for once and for all, DECIDE to become that person.

Not out of obligation, but because you truly want to confront the limiting beliefs, habits and behaviours that strangle your potential and to fully commit to the work that you KNOW you need to do in order to come out on the other side better, changed, wiser, bolder, stronger, and more resilient.

And that’s my wish for you, but what’s more important, is that I want you to make this life-changing decision for yourself.

However, before you can make that decision, you have to take a deep, honest and, albeit uncomfortable, look at what it takes to become that person.

So I invite you to get radically honest and ask yourself:

Who do I need to become to bring my goals to life?

What challenges do I need to confront to transform into that person?

Which character traits and skills must I develop to become this person?

What specific behaviours do I have to change?

What habits do I need to implement?

What comforts & old ways of doing/being do I have to sacrifice?

What part(s) of myself needs to die in order to let that version of myself come to life?

Your answers to these questions will give you a clear understanding of what it means and takes to become the person capable of achieving the goals you’ve set for yourself.

And from here onwards, you have two choices for how you DECIDE to move forward:

  • You, consciously, decide that this version of yourself isn’t something you are able or willing to pursue at this point in your life.

OR,

  • You commit, fully and without reservation, to becoming that person.

There is no right or wrong, however, you must understand that if you’re not willing to give what it takes, then you better learn to love your life exactly the way it is, and if you can’t do that, the second choice is your only option.

But you’re in the driver’s seat of your life now, and saying you’re going to do something and not following through is no longer an option.

And this is where I challenge you, because not doing what you say you’re going to do is only reinforcing the identity of a person who can’t trust his/her own word.

So let’s get real, what are you choosing?

1 or 2?

You’re in the driver’s seat now, the choice is yours.

Choose wisely.
